About Tapped Out

Free, transparent calculators and public water data for everyday home water decisions.

Tapped Out is run by the Tapped Out team, a small independent publisher. We are not a water utility, a lab or a government agency, and we aren't affiliated with any utility or the EPA.

What we publish

• Calculators with every formula shown and its assumptions labeled.
• County water pages built from public records: EPA drinking water data, utilities' annual water quality reports and Census population estimates.

Every figure is an estimate, not 100% accurate or guaranteed. Public records describe a water system, not the water at your tap, and they can be out of date. Before you buy equipment or make a health decision, test your water with a certified lab and talk to your utility or a qualified professional.

How we work

See how we calculate and our sources. If you spot an error, please tell us and we'll correct it.

How the site is funded

We plan to add advertising and affiliate links, always labeled; there are none yet. Money never changes a formula or a figure. See our affiliate and advertising disclosure.
